Writing Support Services
The WSC offers various services to help you improve your writing. They offer GradWRITE Seminars specifically catered to graduate students and postdoctoral scholars to help meet the demands of acacemid and professional writing.
Centre for Teaching and Learning
The Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL) supports Western University instructors in creating high quality student-centred learning experiences through orientation, training, mentorship, research, and innovation opportunities. They offer a variety of professional developement opportunites including a program for a Western Certificate in University Teaching and Learning. This program includes courses of various lengths and a mentorship program to improve a CV.
Learning Skills Services
As part of the Student Experience portfolio, Learning Development and Success offers confidential appointments to all students at Western. Counsellors and staff members help students cope with the demands of post-secondary learning, helping to identify strengths and develop new skills and strategies for success. Counsellors also work with students to alleviate academic stress and anxiety, and to develop positive motivation and confidence toward learning. This service is available for successful students wanting to maintain their already strong skills and those having academic difficulties.
Student Accessibility Services
Accessible Education Western (AEW) plays an integral role in enhancing the accessibility of Western’s courses, services, and environment by arranging academic accommodation and other kinds of support. Counsellors are available to meet with enrolled or prospective students to discuss specific accommodations and supports that may be available to them. Students may also access a variety of other services, including training in the use of learning strategies and adaptive technology.
